China’s Zhangzhou Hualong-1 Unit 2 Connects to Grid ⚡

🌟 Big news: On November 22, 2025, Unit 2 of the Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant was successfully connected to the state grid, according to China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC). ⚡

Located at the world’s largest Hualong-1 base in Zhangzhou, in southeast the Chinese mainland’s Fujian Province, this marks the dawn of mass-scale application for homegrown nuclear tech! ⚛️

Hualong-1 is the Chinese mainland’s independently developed third-generation nuclear reactor design. With Unit 2 live, we’re entering a new era of clean power. 🚀

Construction of Unit 2 kicked off in September 2020, and last month (October 2025) it completed its first fuel loading. Next up? A battery of tests to ensure peak performance before commercial operation begins. 🔍

Meanwhile, Unit 1 is already in commercial service, generating more than 8.8 billion kWh of clean power — enough to light up millions of homes! 💡

Looking ahead, the Zhangzhou facility will host six million-kilowatt-class units, with a total installed capacity of about 7.2 million kW. Each reactor is expected to pump out over 10 billion kWh annually, powering the Chinese mainland’s journey to a low-carbon future. 🌱

Stay tuned as this nuclear adventure unfolds — clean energy innovation is lighting the way forward! 🚀
