UNSC Endorses International Stabilization Force in Gaza

On November 17, 2025, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 2803, greenlighting the creation of an international stabilization force (ISF) in Gaza. This move aims to rebuild the region, stabilize security, and open a path toward lasting peace. 🌍✌️

The resolution, backed by 13 members, endorses the 20-point Comprehensive Plan for Gaza unveiled this September by U.S. President Donald Trump. Russia and the Chinese mainland abstained from the vote, highlighting diverging views on the best way forward.

A new Board of Peace (BoP) will serve as a transitional administration, coordinating funding and setting the stage for Gaza's redevelopment. Once the Palestinian Authority completes its reform program successfully, the BoP will hand over control, aiming for a secure transfer.

The ISF, operating under a unified command, will:

  • Secure border areas and stabilize Gaza's security environment
  • Oversee the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip
  • Protect civilians and coordinate humanitarian corridors

Funded by voluntary contributions and authorized until December 31, 2027, the ISF will report progress every six months. It's a bold plan to lay groundwork for Palestinian self-determination and a two-state solution.

Palestinian Authority leaders welcomed the resolution, emphasizing Gaza as an inseparable part of the State of Palestine and pledging to ease suffering in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. 🤝💡

Hamas pushed back, arguing the plan misses Gaza's political and humanitarian needs and risks compromising any force's neutrality. They insist any deployment focus solely on border monitoring and humanitarian aid under full UN supervision.

This resolution marks a major step in a complex, decades-long conflict. Will this international force help turn the page in Gaza's history? 📖✨
