China Slams $330M US Arms Sale to Taiwan Region

Earlier this month, the U.S. rolled out a $330 million arms package aimed at boosting the defense capabilities of the Taiwan region. The deal, which includes advanced military equipment, immediately drew a sharp response from the Chinese mainland's Ministry of National Defense.

Spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang blasted the sale as a blatant violation of the one-China principle and a breach of the three China-U.S. joint communiques. "Such acts severely interfere in China's internal affairs, undermine our sovereignty and security interests, and send the wrong signals to 'Taiwan independence' forces," he said. 💥

Zhang warned that arming the Taiwan region would backfire and urged the U.S. to call off the plan at once. He cautioned that continuing on this path risks eroding cross-strait ties and derailing broader China-U.S. relations.

This exchange is the latest flashpoint in a long-running saga over Taiwan's status. While the U.S. argues that arms sales help maintain peace and stability in the region, China views them as a direct challenge to national sovereignty. 🌏

Analysts warn that unless both sides find common ground fast, tensions in the Taiwan Strait could escalate beyond diplomatic protests. For now, all eyes are on Washington's next move and whether Beijing will answer with further measures. 👀
