Hey Amigos! 🌏 On November 15, Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, responded to Washington's recent $330-million arms sale to the Taiwan region.
Chen said the Chinese mainland firmly opposes this move, calling it a serious blow to sovereignty and security, and a "gravely wrong signal" to separatist forces.
He urged the United States to honor the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiqués, stop supporting separatist ambitions, and handle the Taiwan question with utmost prudence ⚠️.
Chen warned that Taiwan region leader Lai Ching-te's push for external support and militarization risks turning the island into a "powder keg," jeopardizing the safety and well-being of residents of Taiwan.
"Seeking secession by relying on external forces or arms buildup is a dead end," he said, adding that the Chinese mainland will take all necessary measures to safeguard national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
As cross-strait ties face a critical test, the world is watching how the US and the Chinese mainland will navigate this sensitive issue. Stay tuned! 👀
