New Zealand Shines as Guest of Honor at 26th China Education Expo

With the 26th China Education Expo kicking off this November in the Chinese mainland, New Zealand took center stage as Guest of Honor 🎉. Wang Guan sat down with Shane Reti, New Zealand’s Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology, to unpack how education is building bridges between Wellington and Beijing.

“Being Guest of Honor is more than a title,” Reti explains. “It’s a chance to showcase how our schools and universities are preparing future-ready talent.” From hands-on STEM workshops to AI coding labs, both sides are dreaming big for the classrooms of tomorrow 🚀.

Key Highlights

  • STEM & AI Education: Joint programs that give students coding skills and creative problem-solving know-how.
  • Green Technology Collaboration: Research into sustainable farming, renewable energy, and eco-friendly materials 🌱.
  • Cultural Exchange: Scholarships and exchange visits that let young people experience each other’s classrooms and communities.
  • Scientific Research Partnerships: Joint labs focusing on everything from marine science to biotechnology.

Looking ahead, Reti says the real win is “building a shared future of learning and innovation.” As New Zealand wraps up its Guest-of-Honor role, the seeds of collaboration planted this year are set to grow into lasting ties that connect students, researchers, and educators across the Pacific.
