🚨 In a real-life political drama, China's Foreign Ministry fired off a strong rebuke to Japan on Monday after Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi made remarks about possible military involvement in the Taiwan Strait.
During a session in Japan's parliament, PM Takaichi said Tokyo was 'considering all options' to ensure stability in the Taiwan Strait – a comment that Beijing called 'erroneous' and 'a blatant interference' in its internal affairs.
At a press conference, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian warned that these statements 'seriously violate the one-China principle' and the spirit of the four political documents that have guided China-Japan relations. Lin added that the remarks are 'extremely egregious' and that China has lodged stern representations with Japan.
China stressed that Taiwan is purely China's internal affair and questioned what signal Tokyo was sending to 'Taiwan independence' forces, as well as the future direction of China-Japan ties.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of China's victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the restoration of Taiwan to China. Lin Jian said any Japanese meddling in Taiwan-related matters is a 'serious provocation to the post-war order.'
'The Chinese people have the will, confidence and capability to defeat all attempts to interfere in and obstruct China's reunification,' Lin said, urging Japan to 'stop its provocation, stop crossing the line, and not go further down the wrong path.'
As tensions simmer, all eyes are on Tokyo's next move and whether this exchange will reshape diplomatic ties in the region. 🤝🌏
