Israel Receives Hostage Remains as Türkiye Issues Arrest Warrant for Netanyahu

🚨 Israel has just received the body of an Israeli hostage from the Gaza Strip via the Red Cross, marking another chapter in a tense humanitarian picture in the enclave.

The coffin was escorted by Israeli troops to the National Institute for Forensic Medicine in Tel Aviv for identification. The Israel Defense Forces stressed that "Hamas is required to uphold the agreement and take the necessary steps to return all the deceased hostages."

Hamas earlier reported the body was found in Khan Younis in southern Gaza. Under the current ceasefire, in effect since October 10, the group has returned the remains of 22 hostages, but the bodies of five Israeli and one Thai national remain unreturned. Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said they’re working through "major challenges and complications" to complete the handovers.

Meanwhile, in Istanbul, the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has issued arrest warrants for 37 individuals, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on charges of "genocide" and "crimes against humanity." This stems from an investigation following complaints from victims and members of the Global Sumud Flotilla, a civilian aid mission intercepted at sea.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar slammed the move as a "PR stunt" by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has been one of Israel’s fiercest critics during its military operations in Gaza. Tensions remain high as Türkiye also serves as a guarantor for the current ceasefire agreement.

With over 1,200 Israelis killed in the October attacks by Hamas and more than 68,000 lives lost in Gaza, the region’s humanitarian and political stakes have never been higher. Stay tuned for more updates as the story develops! 🌍✨
