Lone Attacker Stabs 11 on UK Train, Police Rule Out Terrorism

🚨 Chaos on board: A 32-year-old British man is the only suspect in a mass stabbing that left 11 people injured on a train traveling in eastern England. British police said early on that the knife attack is not being treated as a terrorist incident.

One man arrested at the scene was later released, leaving authorities focused on the lone attacker. By Sunday, five of the injured had been discharged. A train crew member who tried to stop the knife wielder remains in critical condition—detectives called his actions nothing short of heroic 🎖️.

Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and digging into the suspect's background. A knife recovered from the scene is now key evidence as officers work at pace to piece together what happened before the attack, said Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy.

Armed police arrested the suspect after the train made an emergency stop at Huntingdon, about 129 km north of London. Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the event appalling, and King Charles said he was truly appalled and shocked.

Knife crime in England and Wales has surged 87% over the past decade, with over 54,000 offenses recorded last year. Interior Minister Shabana Mahmood urged calm and warned against online rumors after previous incidents sparked unrest.

Eyewitness Olly Foster told the BBC he saw blood covering the seats and described the scene as chilling. Another witness reported seeing the suspect waving a large knife before officers used a taser to subdue him.

The investigation continues, but police say they are confident no other suspects are involved. For now, communities and commuters alike are left grappling with the shock of violence on a routine train journey.
