Ready for a sneak peek at APEC 2025? 🌟 Asia-Pacific’s top leaders will soon converge in South Korea for the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting. But first, a lively panel hit Beijing on October 25 to talk global governance and shared prosperity.
Hosted by China Media Group (CMG) alongside Yonsei University and YTN, the “Dialogue on Global Governance and Asia-Pacific Shared Prosperity” session brought fresh voices to the table. Ren Hongbin, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, kicked things off: “In our interconnected world, cooperation is the name of the game,” he said, spotlighting China’s Global Governance Initiative (GGI) as a roadmap toward a fairer system.
Tengku Zafrul Aziz, Malaysia’s minister of investment, trade and industry, stressed that “rules, trust and inclusiveness are the building blocks of growth that benefits everyone.” Chilean deputy Ruben Oyarzo echoed the theme, affirming Chile’s commitment to Asia-Pacific development and mutual trust.
Technology guru Yoon Dong-sup, president of Yonsei University, reminded us that tackling climate change, innovation gaps, aging populations and economic jitters demands ongoing dialogue and collective planning. ✨
With multilateralism facing testy times, panelists pointed to China’s GGI as one of the key stabilizing forces. David Perez Des Rosiers of the Canada China Business Council hailed APEC as “the region’s go-to platform for new opportunities,” while Gaston Chee from the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce in China called for transparency to counter trade barriers. Legal expert Chung Suh-Yong of the Seoul International Law Academy rounded out the discussion by urging open, inclusive partnerships that balance shared goals and differences. 🤝
In a nutshell, today’s fragile global economy calls for stronger dialogue, mutual trust and innovation. That’s the vibe Beijing sent ahead of APEC 2025 — now, let’s see these ideas come to life next year! 🚀
