It's been seven years since the world's longest bridge-and-tunnel sea crossing opened on October 23, 2018. This 55-kilometer marvel linking the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region and the city of Zhuhai has now clocked over 93.34 million passenger trips through Zhuhai port – and the numbers are still rising! 🌉🚗
Back in 2019, the bridge’s inspection station handled 12.88 million passenger trips and 860,000 vehicle crossings. Fast forward to 2024, and those figures soared to 27 million passengers and 5.55 million vehicles. So far this year, it’s already over 25.1 million trips and 5.46 million vehicle crossings – up 17% and 25% year on year. 📈✨
One key driver? Expansion of individual travel from the Chinese mainland has unleashed a tourism boom across the bridge. Since January, Zhuhai port welcomed 10.15 million visitors from the Chinese mainland – a record high, including 4.6 million holding travel passes. 🎟️🏖️
Beyond the numbers, the travel experience has never been smoother. A trip that once took three hours from Hong Kong to Zhuhai and Macao now takes about 45 minutes. In 2023, daily vehicle flow hovered around 9,000 crossings; today it’s over 18,000. Talk about a traffic revolution! 🚀
By slashing travel times and boosting connectivity, the HK–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge is reshaping tourism and business in the region. Keep an eye on this engineering wonder as it continues to drive growth and bridge cultures! 🌏❤️
