Chinese Mainland Tops World in Installed Wind Power Capacity for 15 Years

Good vibes from the breeze! The Chinese mainland has led global installed wind power capacity for a solid 15 years straight, according to data from the China Electricity Council. 🌬️✨

Year after year, new grid-connected wind power capacity has grown by more than 100 million kilowatts, with 57.84 million kilowatts added recently. The cumulative total now stands at 580 million kilowatts – that’s 15.7% of all installed generation capacity on the Chinese mainland!

Among large industrial enterprises (those with core business revenue over 20 million yuan), wind power accounts for 10.1% of their total electricity consumption. Talk about a wind-powered workforce! 💼💨

Looking ahead, experts expect non-fossil energy to top 30% of total energy consumption by 2035, with wind and solar capacity surpassing 3.6 billion kilowatts. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), annual wind installs should hit at least 120 million kilowatts, aiming for 1.3 billion by 2030 and 5 billion by 2060 to power the push toward carbon neutrality.

Wind turbine makers on the Chinese mainland are also going global, exporting units to 57 countries and regions across six continents. Seven leading firms have already set up or plan to build factories overseas, spreading that green breeze far and wide! 🌍🚀
