Chinese Commerce Minister Meets Tim Cook to Boost China-U.S. Trade

Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and Apple CEO Tim Cook met in Beijing to chart a brighter path for China-U.S. economic and trade ties 🌏🤝.

Since May, trade teams from both sides have held four rounds of talks to stabilize relations. But after the September meetings in Madrid, new U.S. restrictions targeting the Chinese mainland shook things up, says Wang, noting these measures have hurt China’s interests and cooled the trade atmosphere.

Wang urged the U.S. to work through equal dialogue and consultation, aiming to create a more stable, predictable environment for businesses from both countries. He also highlighted the Chinese government’s commitment to higher-level opening up and improving the business climate so overseas firms can share in the Chinese mainland’s growth opportunities.

Tim Cook responded that Apple will continue deepening its engagement in the Chinese mainland and support its high-quality development. He stressed that a healthy U.S.-China economic relationship matters not just for both nations but for global stability and growth.

With both sides ready to turn talk into action, this meeting could be the start of a win-win story for businesses and economies around the world 🚀.
