Liu Shaoang’s Heroics Propel China to Mixed 2000m Relay Gold in Montreal

Hey speed skating fans! The ISU World Tour kicked off in Montreal with an electrifying mixed 2000m relay, and China stole the show. ⛸️

The Chinese squad started smart: Wang Xinran kept it cool in the first leg, holding back at the rear and watching the chaos unfold. After five laps, Sun Long seized a golden chance, swooping into second when South Korea and the Netherlands tangled.

By the halfway mark, China surged to the front. But with three laps to go, a Dutch skater muscled past Zhang Chutong, pushing China down to third. Talk about a plot twist! 😮

Then came Liu Shaoang’s moment. Like an epic final boss battle, Liu exploded off the final exchange, carved the inside on the penultimate corner, and slammed the finish line first in 2:39.528. 🥇

The Netherlands grabbed silver, Canada clinched bronze, and South Korea was later disqualified. What a rollercoaster to start the season! 🎢
