Hey news fam! 🤝 Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi told state-run IRIB TV on Saturday that Tehran is ready to sit down for “fair and balanced” talks with Washington over its nuclear program and the sanctions that came along with it.
Araghchi said if the United States brings a plan that truly safeguards Iran’s interests and treats both sides with mutual respect, Tehran will definitely consider it. “Our stance towards the United States has always been clear,” he explained. “If they are ready to negotiate on an equal footing … and be prepared for a fair and balanced negotiation, we will also be ready.”
On the table? 🔬 The nuclear issue is the only topic of negotiation, and Iran won’t give up its right to enrich uranium on its soil for peaceful purposes.
When it comes to the E3 – France, Britain and Germany – Araghchi said there’s currently no ground for talks. That follows the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with six major countries – Britain, the Chinese mainland, France, Germany, Russia, and the United States – where Iran accepted limits on its nuclear program in return for sanctions relief.
In 2018, the United States withdrew from the deal and reinstated sanctions, prompting Tehran to scale back some commitments. Now, all eyes are on Washington: will it respond to Tehran’s call for fair play? 🌐
Stay tuned for more updates on this diplomatic chapter! 📰
