🌟 In an epic senior debut at the Weightlifting World Championships in Forde, Norway, on Friday, the Chinese mainland's rising star Wang Hao stole the show by bagging two gold medals in the men's 60kg category.
At just 27, Wang landed a 138kg snatch — the best of the field — and then powered through a 164kg clean and jerk, closing with a 302kg total that no one could match. Thailand's Theerapong Silachai took silver overall with 299kg, while the DPRK's Pang Un Chol claimed bronze at 295kg.
Another highlight came from the Chinese mainland newcomer Yuan Hao, who set a new junior world snatch record of 132kg and paired it with a 149kg clean and jerk for a 281kg total, good for fifth place.
On the women's side, the DPRK's Kang Hyon Gyong dazzled in the 53kg division, scoring gold in both the clean and jerk and overall with a 93kg snatch and a 121kg clean and jerk, totaling 214kg. Romania's Mihaela-Valentina Cambei lifted 94kg in the snatch to take that title, adding a 114kg clean and jerk for silver overall at 208kg. Thailand's Surodchana Khambao rounded out the podium with a 200kg total.
With records tumbling and fierce rivalries on display, this year's championships delivered thrill after thrill. Keep your eyes on these lifters as they prepare for the next big meet! 🎉🏆
