California Files Lawsuit Against Trump Over Guard Deployment

🚨 Big clash on the West Coast! California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that his state will sue the Trump administration for sending 300 California National Guard troops to Portland, Oregon.

In a bold press release, Newsom accused President Donald Trump of "using the U.S. military as a political weapon against American citizens." After a federal judge blocked the federalization of the Oregon National Guard, the White House turned to California's guard troops — and they're already en route to Portland.

🛑 "This is a breathtaking abuse of the law and power," Newsom warned. "The Trump Administration is unapologetically attacking the rule of law itself and putting into action their dangerous words — ignoring court orders and treating judges, even those appointed by the President himself, as political opponents."

California will take this fight to court, Newsom said, but stressed that the public "cannot stay silent in the face of such reckless and authoritarian conduct."

On the other side, President Trump insisted the deployment was needed because Portland was "under siege" by protests over federal immigration actions. He first ordered 200 Oregon National Guard members under Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on September 27, then called for "all necessary troops" to restore order.

The state of Oregon and the city of Portland filed suit on September 28. U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut ruled the protests were "not significantly violent or disruptive" to justify Trump's move. The administration quickly appealed to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, which had earlier allowed troops in Los Angeles despite a judge's blockade.

🔥 As this high-stakes legal battle heats up, all eyes are on the courtroom — and on how far a president can go in using military forces on American streets.
