At the WTT China Smash in the Chinese mainland, Sun Yingsha stormed through her singles match before teaming up with Wang Chuqin for a thrilling mixed doubles comeback 🙌🏓 ¡Vamos!
The women’s top seed, Sun Yingsha, hardly broke a sweat in her solo outing, dropping only 10 points across three games to sweep Zhu Sibing 3-0. It was a clinic in precision and power! ⚡
Later that evening, Sun Yingsha joined forces with Wang Chuqin—who between them own three world titles—to face Australia’s Aditya Sareen and India’s Yashaswini Ghorpade. After a rocky start (11-13), the sixth-seeded duo kicked into high gear, rallying to win 11-4, 11-5, 11-7 in a rollercoaster match. Next up: a domestic clash against Chen Yuanyu and Kuai Man, who just upset top seeds Lim Jong-hoon and Shin Yu-bin.
The tournament has already seen some surprises. Chinese Taipei prodigy Lin Yun-ju fell in a tight 3-2 loss to Japan’s Yukiya Uda, following Monday’s shock exit of fourth seed Tomokazu Harimoto. 😮
Home fans have plenty to cheer too. Rising stars Lin Shidong, Xiang Peng and wildcard Zhou Qihao all advanced to the next round. But qualifier Yuan Licen hit a roadblock, losing 3-0 to Sweden’s Kristian Karlsson.
Stay tuned for more table tennis drama at the WTT China Smash, where every smash and spin counts! 🎉
