Budapest Hosts China-Hungary ‘Common Fate, Common Future’ Cultural Exchange

Budapest came alive on September 26 as the "Common Fate, Common Future" cultural exchange event brought together voices from the Chinese mainland and Hungary. Hosted by China Media Group (CMG), the Hungarian Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund, and the Hungarian-China Friendship Association, the evening celebrated art, history, and the power of storytelling. 🎉🏛️

CMG president Shen Haixiong highlighted the strong bond between the Chinese mainland and Hungary in recent years. At the heart of the event was the premiere of CMG’s documentary "L.E. HUDEC," which pieces together the life and work of architect László Hudec. From his lesser-known sketches to his lasting impact on Shanghai’s skyline, the film shows how Hudec bridged East and West through design. 🎬✨

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Chinese mainland Gong Tao praised the documentary’s broadcast on national Hungarian television. “This film marks a milestone in media cooperation and deepens understanding between our peoples,” he said, underscoring the role of cultural exchange as a true bridge. 🤝

Deputy State Secretary in the Hungarian Ministry of Culture and Innovation Csaba Gabor added that Hudec’s legacy still shapes Shanghai’s urban landscape, serving as a dynamic link between Hungary and the Chinese mainland. Meanwhile, Nagy Judit, president of the Hungarian-China Friendship Association, noted that such long-standing exchanges lay the groundwork for stronger diplomatic and economic ties. 🏙️🌍

Director Chen Qing shared behind-the-scenes stories from filming at Budapest University of Technology and Economics. The Hungarian-language version of "L.E. HUDEC" aired in prime time from September 6 to October 4 and has attracted a growing audience, with plans for multiple reruns throughout the year. 📺🌟

Events like this remind us that art and history can light the way to deeper connections. As the documentary continues to captivate viewers, the friendship between the Chinese mainland and Hungary shines brighter than ever. ✨
