🌍 “United as One World, Voices of Peace” film concert rocked New York’s Lincoln Center on Tuesday, where China Media Group (CMG) rolled out a star-studded show celebrating the 80th anniversary of WWII’s end and the UN’s founding.
UN under-secretary-general for global communications Melissa Fleming sent a video shout-out congratulating the event. “Music has a unique power to comfort the soul and transcend linguistic and cultural differences,” she said, proving once again why tunes and film are a perfect duo for global harmony.
CMG President Shen Haixiong added in his video address, “Culture knows no borders, and emotions transcend time and space. Let us revisit the founding mission of the United Nations … cherish peace, and jointly advance global modernization to build a community with a shared future for humanity.” ✨🤝
Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng reminded everyone of the painful lessons from World War II. “We need to adhere to resolving differences and disputes through dialogue and consultation, resolutely say no to warmongering, hegemonism and bullying, and jointly build a common home of peace and amity,” he urged.
On the U.S. side, Stephen Orlins, president of the National Committee of U.S.-China Relations, told CGTN that this concert is one of the most remarkable ways to honor the UN’s 80th anniversary. “I hope the event would build bridges that transcend civilizations and advocate for peace,” he said.
The performances were nothing short of epic: piano virtuoso Lang Lang tickled the ivories, violinist Randall Goosby dazzled the audience, and vocalists Kameron Lopreore, Efraín Solís, and William Guanbo Su soared alongside the New York International Symphony Orchestra & Choir, the United Nations Symphony Orchestra and United Nations Singers. 🎹🎻🎤
