Chinese president Xi Jinping wrapped up his trip to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and flew back to Beijing on Thursday after joining the region's 70th anniversary festivities.
In Urumqi, the regional capital, locals from diverse ethnic groups gathered along the streets, waving red flags and dancing to celebrate the milestone. The energy was infectious as citizens cheered Xi on his journey through the city and later at Urumqi Tianshan International Airport. 🎈✨
Following his departure, a central delegation led by Wang Huning will tour different parts of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the Chinese mainland, extending greetings to residents from all walks of life through Sunday.
Xi's entourage, including senior official Cai Qi, returned on the same flight, marking the end of a heartfelt send-off for the president.
