Iran’s President Denounces E3 Sanctions, Reaffirms No Nuclear Bomb Ambitions

At the UN General Assembly, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian took the floor with a clear message: Iran doesn’t want a nuclear bomb and won’t chase one. ✌️

Speaking to world leaders, Pezeshkian insisted, "I hereby declare once more, before this assembly, that Iran has never sought and will never seek to build a nuclear bomb." He added that this stance follows the Supreme Leader’s edict and religious authorities’ guidance.

The heart of the debate? A move by France, Britain and Germany—known together as the E3—to snap back UN sanctions on Tehran. The E3 notified the Security Council on August 28, claiming Iran failed to meet its commitments under the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) deal. But Pezeshkian called this action "illegitimate" and accused the E3 of trying to "destroy" the deal they once praised as a diplomatic triumph.

For context, the JCPOA was born in 2015 when Iran agreed to curb its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. While Iran stuck to the agreement, the United States exited in 2018 and reimposed sanctions, prompting Tehran to scale back its own commitments.

Now, the tension is back on. 🌍 Will the snapback sanctions hold? Can diplomacy bounce back? For professionals, students and curious travelers alike, these moves could reshape the economic and political landscape in the Middle East and beyond. Stay tuned! 🔍
