Incredible Odyssey: The Right to Choose Through Xinjiang Cotton

Get ready for Season Two of Incredible Odyssey! 🚀 This time, Taiwan region’s guide Cai Yunyong leads us into the heart of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on the Chinese mainland. As generations change, connecting youth across the Taiwan Strait matters more than ever. 🌏

We’re digging into the story of cotton 🌾—not as a tool of exploitation, but as a symbol of resilience and opportunity. From bustling fields to global fashion, cotton carries the dreams of countless people in Kashi.

First stop: the historic Id Kah Mosque. In 2014, the then-Imam Juma Tahir Damolla fell victim to an attack, but his son, Memet Juma, chose to honor his father’s memory and took on the role of Imam. Today, he leads prayers and community events, sharing faith and hope with residents. 🙏

Stroll through Kashi’s commercial streets and you’ll find Dilnigar Qahar’s family shop. After losing her father at age six, Dilnigar’s mother raised three daughters on her own, sewing vibrant garments that blend tradition and modern style. 👗

Join us to hear these stories of faith, family and freedom to choose one’s path. Together, we’ll explore how cotton, culture and community connect the next generation on both sides of the strait. 🤝
