Workplace Safety Soars: Chinese Mainland Cuts Accidents by 28%

Imagine heading to work and feeling safer than ever… 💼⚡️

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–2025), the Chinese mainland slashed workplace fatalities by 28.4% in 2024 compared to the previous five-year block (2016–2020), announced Wang Xiangxi, minister of emergency management.

This year also saw major and extremely serious accidents drop into single digits—a 43.8% cut since the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan. Natural disaster impacts followed suit: annual averages for affected individuals, fatalities and missing persons, and direct economic losses relative to GDP fell by 31.3%, 23%, and 34.3%, respectively.

Behind these wins is a mix of tougher prevention policies and faster emergency responses. The central government invested nearly 60 billion yuan (about $8.44 billion) in treasury bond funds to boost disaster readiness, helping wrap up six regional emergency rescue centers. 🚨🏗️

For news enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, students and travelers alike, these numbers show how strategic planning and investment can make workplaces and communities safer. Stay tuned to see how safety continues to improve through 2025! 👀
