Drone Scare Shuts Down Copenhagen Airport: PM Warns of Hybrid Threats

Imagine you're waiting at Copenhagen's Kastrup Airport, passport in hand, when suddenly all flights are grounded. According to Danish prime minister Mette Frederiksen, this was "a serious attack" on critical infrastructure. 🚨

She warned that this isn't an isolated case—drones have been spotted over Poland, airspace violations in Estonia, cyberattacks on European airports, and now drones in Denmark and Norway. "We're facing a series of hybrid attacks and sabotage attempts," she said. 🌐🛡️

The drone scare shut down Copenhagen for about four hours, stranding roughly 20,000 travelers. From honeymooners to students on study trips, delays and cancellations spilled into Tuesday morning. The Danish National Police activated their National Operational Staff at the lowest alert level to boost surveillance and coordinate across agencies.

Meanwhile, Oslo's Gardermoen Airport closed around midnight Monday after similar drone sightings. It reopened at 3:30 a.m., but not before flights were diverted and passengers spent an unexpected night in airports. Norway's Police Security Service is now talking with Danish authorities to see if the incidents are connected.

With airports on high alert, travelers should keep an eye on flight updates and official alerts. Europe's newest security challenge is unfolding—and we'll keep you posted. ✈️🔍
