Super Typhoon Ragasa to Make Landfall in Guangdong Wednesday

🌪️ Get ready, amigos! Super Typhoon Ragasa, the 18th typhoon of the year, is barreling toward Guangdong Province in the Chinese mainland. As of Tuesday morning, Ragasa packs Category 17 winds (202–221 km/h) and sits about 690 km east-southeast of Yangjiang city in the South China Sea.

Forecast models show Ragasa racing northwest at 20–25 km/h, set to make landfall along the coast between Shenzhen and Xuwen on Wednesday. After crashing ashore, it should veer west and gradually lose steam.

Meanwhile, East China’s Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, and Shandong provinces brace for heavy to torrential rain. Rivers in Guangdong Province, Guangxi, and Hainan are facing possible surges, with some local rivers likely to rise above warning levels.

Authorities are on high alert: the Ministry of Water Resources has kept a Level IV emergency response in Guangdong and sent work teams to both Guangdong and Hainan. Guangdong Province has ramped up wind-control measures from Level II to Level I, while Hainan has upgraded its typhoon and flood-and-wind response from Level IV to Level III.

Stay safe, follow local advisories, and keep your emergency kit ready! 🚨
