Wang Huning Hosts Taiwan Region Delegation at 80th V-Day Commemorations

Beijing was alive with historic reflection this Thursday as top advisor Wang Huning welcomed representatives from the Taiwan region for the 80th anniversary of V-Day 🎖️. Among the guests was Hung Hsiu-chu, former chairperson of the Chinese Kuomintang, joining the commemorations marking the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Wang Huning, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, urged compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to remember history, carry forward the great spirits of the Chinese nation and the War of Resistance, and write new chapters in national reunification and rejuvenation 🕊️.

He highlighted that Taiwan’s restoration to China in 1945 was a key outcome of World War II victory and part of the postwar international order, a shared glory and national memory for all Chinese people across the Taiwan Strait.
