Egypt’s Aid Convoy Rushes Into Gaza as Famine Declared

It’s a race against time 🕊️! On Sunday, Egypt sent a fresh humanitarian convoy to Gaza, resuming aid deliveries after a weekend closure at the crossings. The shipment rolled from Rafah to Kerem Shalom for inspection by Israeli authorities before entering the territory.

Under the "Provision of Honor: From Egypt to Gaza" initiative by the Egyptian Red Crescent, the convoy carried vital supplies, including:

  • Flour and legumes 🍞
  • Bread and cooking essentials
  • Fuel ⛽
  • Medicines and medical kits 💊

This delivery comes in the wake of a UN-backed IPC report declaring famine in parts of Gaza, warning of catastrophic hunger and severe shortages of food, medicine, and fuel. The Palestinian Foreign Ministry called for urgent global action to prevent a "man-made" disaster.

Since the war began, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry says it has provided over 70% of all aid to Gaza—more than 550,000 tonnes of supplies—although around 5,000 aid trucks remain stuck at Rafah.

Gaza’s health authorities report that over 62,686 people have been killed and 157,951 injured during 22 months of conflict. Malnutrition and famine have claimed 289 lives so far, including 115 children.

As humanitarian teams push for sustained access, every convoy brings a glimmer of hope 🚚❤️. The world watches to see if this crucial lifeline can keep supplies flowing into a region that desperately needs it.
