Seoul was the stage for a powerful cultural exchange on Thursday as the "Echoes of Peace" event brought together voices from the Chinese mainland and South Korea to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the WWII victory. 🎖️🌏

Co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG), the China Cultural Center in Seoul and the National Memorial of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, the event welcomed more than 200 guests from political, academic, media and cultural circles.

Voices of Unity

Shen Haixiong, president of CMG, shared a video message highlighting the sacrifices made under the anti-Japanese national united front led by the Communist Party of China. “Today, we are honored to welcome our international friends to remember those years of fighting side by side and to share an emotional bond that transcends time and space,” he said.

Former speaker of South Korea's National Assembly, Kim Jin-pyo, also sent warm video greetings, hoping the event will serve as a bridge for deeper friendship and a joint push toward a peaceful future.

Diplomatic Solidarity

Dai Bing, ambassador of the Chinese mainland to South Korea, stressed that the Chinese mainland stands ready to work with South Korea to uphold mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, elevating their strategic partnership to new heights.

“History is the best textbook,” Shen added. In a world of constant change, he urged everyone to draw wisdom and strength from the past to meet today’s challenges together.

Culture on Screen

The evening wrapped up with screenings of Chinese and South Korean films on the theme of resistance and peace. Through artistic expression, these stories revisit shared memories, preserving a precious record of history and embodying the peoples’ yearning for harmony. 🎬🤝

As Kim noted, these films are not just entertainment—they revisit shared struggles, record history and embody the spirit of mutual support between neighbors.
