China Calls for Vigilance as Terrorism Resurges in Syria

🚨 Breaking: China raises red flags on a resurgence of terrorism in Syria. During a UN Security Council briefing, Fu Cong, China's permanent representative to the United Nations, called for heightened vigilance as reports show foreign fighters fueling violence in Syria’s western coast and Suwayda city.

He stressed that unchecked terrorism only spells more trouble for Syria and its neighbors. China urged Syrian interim authorities to go after all Security Council–listed terror groups, including the Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement.

On sanctions: don’t rush changes. Fu Cong reminded members that any adjustment should be cautious, based on solid data, and take into account Syria’s security situation to avoid emboldening extremists.

Think of it like the final boss in a video game: Syria’s at a crucial stage, and every move matters. 🎮

He also highlighted Syria’s critical moment: moving towards political transition and lasting peace under UN resolution 2254. China supports inclusive dialogue and urges authorities to protect all Syrians’ rights and to release findings on recent coastal violence and the Suwayda incident ASAP.

And on sovereignty: Fu Cong reiterated that Syria’s territorial integrity must be respected. "Israel’s occupation of the Golan Heights is entirely illegitimate," he said, calling for the UN Disengagement Observer Force mandate to be fully respected—no unauthorized troops in the buffer zone.

👉 What’s next? The world watches Syria’s next moves: stronger counterterrorism, transparent investigations, and diplomatic steps towards peace. One thing’s clear: the road ahead needs cooperation, vigilance, and respect for international law.
