Gu Ailing Injured in ‘Man-Made’ Skiing Accident

Chinese mainland Olympic champion Gu Ailing had a scary moment on the slopes this week. The 21-year-old freestyle skiing star posted on Sina Weibo Saturday that she was injured in a "man-made" accident during practice in Christchurch, New Zealand. 😱

Gu has battled injuries all season and even withdrew from the Asian Winter Games in Harbin, in Heilongjiang Province in the northeast of the Chinese mainland. After months of rehab, she headed Down Under for fresh training vibes 6 until Friday's crash hit her comeback plans.

Describing the accident as "very horrible," Gu says she's already undergone diagnostic imaging in Christchurch and is now waiting for medical experts to give the green light before she can hit the snow again. 🩹📋

"Hopefully I can go back to train on snow soon," she wrote, sending thanks to her team, fans, and everyone cheering her on. 🙏

From jaw-dropping tricks to the waiting game of a full recovery, Gu's journey shows the ups and downs behind every medal moment. We're rooting for her speedy return to the podium, amigos! 💪🎿
