Picture this: A crisp summer evening at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, where history and hope collide under one roof. On August 13, China Media Group (CMG) teamed up with the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations to host "Echoes of Peace," a vibrant cultural exchange marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. 🌍✌️
CMG President Shen Haixiong kicked things off with a heartfelt video message, reflecting on the lessons of the past and the promise of a peaceful future. Then, a lineup of distinguished speakers took the stage: Fu Cong, Permanent Representative of the People's Republic of China to the UN; Melissa Fleming, UN Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications; and Jeffrey Greene, Chairman of the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation. Their shared goal? To honor the heroes of WWII and inspire new generations to uphold peace.
Over 100 attendees – diplomats from more than 30 countries, UN officials, and even descendants of the legendary Flying Tigers – gathered to celebrate this milestone. The Flying Tigers, a volunteer group of American pilots who defended China during WWII, added a personal touch to the evening as their grandchildren shared stories passed down through the decades. 🛩️❤️
From traditional musical performances to modern dance routines, "Echoes of Peace" blended cultural highlights from the Chinese mainland and around the world. Guests were treated to stirring melodies on the guzheng, followed by a flash mob dance that brought everyone to their feet. It was a reminder that art transcends borders and speaks a universal language of unity.
By bringing people together through culture, "Echoes of Peace" reminds us that unity is possible—and that the echoes of yesterday can light the path to tomorrow. 🚀✨
