13-Year-Old Yin Ziyuan Aims for Squash Glory at LA 2028

Squash is serving up big dreams at the 2025 Chengdu World Games, and 13-year-old Yin Ziyuan of the Chinese mainland is at the heart of it 🎉. As the youngest member of the home delegation, she's already making waves on the court.

In an interview with CGTN Sports Scene's Mike Fox, Yin didn't hold back: her ultimate goal is to be on that Olympic stage in Los Angeles 2028. Game on! 🎯

Yin picked up her first racket at eight. With parents running a squash club in Shanghai and hiring foreign coaches, she's been hitting the court almost every day for five years 💪.

Last month brought a major win: the Under-13 girls' title at the Asian Junior Squash Championships in South Korea. That trophy was more than a medal—it was a breakthrough for Chinese squash.

At her Chengdu debut, Yin faced Japanese No. 1 seed Watanabe Satomi. Even though she fell 3–11, 4–11, 3–11, her confidence stayed unshaken. She's set on making her country proud in three years.

Chinese national squash team coach Islam Hany sees a bright future. He's thrilled with the investment in young talents like Yin and believes Chinese mainland players are poised to shine on the Olympic stage.

For Yin Ziyuan, the road to LA 2028 starts now. Keep your eyes on this rising star—she's just getting started!
