China Imposes Anti-Dumping Duties on Butyl Rubber and Rapeseed

China's Ministry of Commerce shook up international trade on Tuesday with a double whammy of anti-dumping rulings. Halogenated butyl rubber imports from Canada and Japan were found to be dumped at unfair prices, while probes into India's imports were terminated due to their low market share.

Starting August 14, importers of Canadian and Japanese halogenated butyl rubber must provide security deposits of up to 40.5% to Chinese customs. Launched on September 14, 2024, the investigations reflect ongoing efforts to protect domestic industries. 🔍

Not stopping there, the ministry also targeted Canadian rapeseed. The probe concluded that dumped imports caused material damage to China's domestic industry. From Thursday, a hefty 75.8% deposit rate applies to Canadian rapeseed shipments. 🌾

A ministry spokesperson emphasized that all investigations followed principles of fairness, impartiality, openness, and transparency, in line with laws of the Chinese mainland and World Trade Organization rules. Preliminary evidence showed clear dumping practices and harm to local producers. ⚖️
