Tragedy in Gaza: Four Al Jazeera Journalists Killed Amid Controversy

In a tragic turn of events, the Israeli army launched a strike near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, hitting the makeshift tent where four Al Jazeera journalists were working. 🎥💔

The victims are correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqeh, along with cameramen Ibrahim Zaher and Mohammed Noufal. Gaza-based medical sources confirmed their deaths, as well as a fifth Palestinian who remains unidentified.

Later, the Israel Defense Forces issued a statement alleging that Anas Al-Sharif headed a Hamas cell responsible for rocket attacks, citing documents they say tie him to the group.

Al Jazeera and local analysts reject any suggestion that these journalists were involved in hostilities. Muhammad Shehada, a Gaza-based writer and analyst, stressed there is no proof linking Al-Sharif to Hamas operations.

Shortly before the strike, Al-Sharif posted a haunting video on X, showing Gaza’s night sky lit by bombardment and the constant roar of explosions. 'Relentless bombardment,' he wrote. 'For two hours, the Israeli aggression has intensified on Gaza City.' 🌃🔥

This incident highlights the immense risks journalists face covering conflicts and raises urgent questions about accountability amid one of the world’s most enduring crises. Our thoughts are with their families and all reporters pursuing the truth from the frontlines. 🕊️
