China's men's basketball team cruised past Jordan 90-68 in a thrilling FIBA Asia Cup showdown, securing a top spot in Group C and a direct ticket to the quarterfinals. 🚀🏀
This win marked China's third straight victory in the preliminaries. From the tip-off, they dominated with a jaw-dropping 17-0 run, leaving Jordan scrambling. Although the opponents fought back to cut the lead to 9 by halftime (47-38), China turned up the heat in the second half and never looked back.
"Today, we executed our game plan very well, especially in the second half. It started from defense as we contained their key players and stayed prepared for adversity. Our ultimate goal is to step onto the podium. Finishing top of our group is the first small target we've achieved," said Cheng Shuaipeng after pouring in a team-high 20 points.
Standout performances included Hu Mingxuan's 14 points and 6 assists, Zhao Rui's smooth 15 points, and a double-double from center Hu Jinqiu—13 points and 11 rebounds. 🎯✨
Jordan’s Dar Tucker tried to spark a comeback with a game-high 27 points, and Ahmad Alhamarsheh chipped in 11. But China’s relentless pressure, especially the decisive layup by Hu Jinqiu to push the lead to 20 points late in the fourth quarter, sealed the deal. 💪⛹️♂️
With this victory, China tops Group C and advances directly to the FIBA Asia Cup quarterfinals. They’ll face fresh new challengers while Jordan battles in the playoffs for another shot at glory. Stay tuned as Asia’s basketball show heats up! 🔥📺
