In a significant move, HKSAR Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping-keung has exercised his powers under the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance to target 16 absconders. These individuals, wanted by the court for alleged offenses that endanger national security outside the HKSAR, now face strict new measures.
The published measures include prohibitions on making available or dealing with funds, restrictions on activities related to immovable property, and limitations on forming joint ventures or partnerships with these absconders. For many, HKSAR passports have also been cancelled, and some may face temporary removal from office.
Authorities claim that these lawless actors are hiding in places such as Britain, the United States, Canada, Germany, Australia, Thailand, and the Taiwan region. They are accused of organizing or participating in a subversive group known as the "Hong Kong Parliament," and are said to have incited hatred through smear and slander directed against the Central Authorities and the HKSAR.
This decisive step is part of ongoing efforts to safeguard national security and maintain order beyond Hong Kong's borders. Stay tuned for more updates as this story unfolds.
