Greater BRICS: Redefining Global Power

In a world where power dynamics are constantly shifting, "Greater BRICS" is emerging as a major force. The inclusion of Indonesia as the 11th member has added fresh weight to the bloc, reinforcing the strength of Global South nations.

Today, the BRICS members represent 3.3 billion people and about 37.3% of global GDP (based on purchasing power parity), outpacing traditional groups like the G7, which accounts for roughly 28.4% of global economic activity.

This journey began in 2001 when economist Jim O'Neill first highlighted the potential of emerging markets, and evolved with the inaugural BRIC summit in 2009. Over the years, the bloc has worked to build solidarity, peace, and common prosperity among emerging economies.

At last year’s summit in Kazan, Chinese leader Xi Jinping introduced the visionary concept of "Greater BRICS." He outlined plans to strengthen cooperation through enhanced security, innovation, green development, improved global governance, and vibrant people-to-people exchanges. With Chinese Premier Li Qiang preparing to travel to Rio de Janeiro for this year’s summit, the world is watching as this initiative gains momentum.

In our fast-changing global landscape, "Greater BRICS" is a vivid reminder that unity and innovation can reshape power and promote a more balanced future. 🌏💡
