Skating Star Han Cong Enters IOC Commission Race

Chinese figure skater Han Cong is making a bold move both on and off the ice. Along with his Olympic gold medal-winning partner Sui Wenjing, he is among 11 elite athletes vying for a spot on the International Olympic Committee Athletes' Commission.

Following their stunning victory at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, the duo is set to return to competition next season, sparking excitement and anticipation in the sports community.

The commission race features candidates from 11 National Olympic Committees across five different sports, all contending for two available positions with eight-year terms. Voting kicks off on January 30 during the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games, giving every competing athlete a voice until February 18. To secure a spot, candidates must earn the highest votes from athletes representing at least two different sports.

After the election concludes, the commission will also select a chair and two vice chairs to further amplify athletes' voices on the global stage. This isn't just about filling seats—it's about empowering athletes to influence sports governance and bring fresh energy into Olympic leadership! 🌟

Stay tuned as Han Cong and his peers transition from the ice rink to influential roles, inspiring a new era of athlete representation and leadership. 🚀
