China is setting sail toward a greener future with its innovative water transport drive. Guided by its "dual carbon" goal to peak emissions by 2030 and hit carbon neutrality by 2060, the country is powering forward with an eco-friendly inland shipping system. 🚢🌱
At a recent press conference, the Ministry of Transport unveiled that over 1,000 new energy and clean energy vessels are now in operation nationwide. Among these, more than 600 liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessels, 485 battery-powered electric ships, four methanol fuel-powered ships, and two hydrogen fuel cell-powered ships hit the waters by the end of 2024.
Yang Huaxiong, director general of the Water Transport Bureau, highlighted that maritime shipping is a cornerstone for China’s strong position in global trade. As innovation and green energy continue to merge, this maritime upgrade is not only boosting environmental sustainability but also reinforcing the nation’s trade prowess.
With a fresh wave of green technology steering the course, this revolution in water transport is a major leap toward a low-carbon future. Stay tuned as the journey unfolds! 🌊💡
