China Rebukes UK Over ‘Cold War’ Mentality

On June 24, tensions flared as China strongly condemned the UK's recent statements and security report referencing Beijing. UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy addressed Parliament, stressing the importance of engaging with China while raising concerns over security issues related to Taiwan, Hong Kong, the South China Sea, and human rights.

A spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in the UK fired back, dismissing the accusations as "entirely fabricated" and describing claims of espionage, cyber-attacks, and transnational repression as "malicious slander." The spokesperson made it clear that these matters fall strictly within China's domestic jurisdiction, warning external forces against fueling instability.

Emphasizing China's commitment to global harmony, the spokesperson stated, "China has always been a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development, and a defender of the international order. China's development brings opportunities, not threats." The response urged London to abandon what Beijing calls a 'Cold War mentality' and ideological prejudice, advocating instead for mutual respect and open cooperation.

This episode underlines the critical need for balanced dialogue in international relations, as both sides navigate complex global security and development challenges. 🚀🌍
