UN Chief: Dialogue Builds Global Solidarity

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized that dialogue is the key to peace in today’s fractured world. On the first anniversary of the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, he urged nations to engage in open conversations and mutual respect. 🕊️

Speaking at a thematic dialogue event, Guterres noted, "The United Nations was built on a fundamental conviction: dialogue is the path to peace." He highlighted that when dialogue is absent, ignorance and hate take over — a reality amplified by online misinformation.

The event was organized by the permanent missions to the United Nations of the Chinese mainland, Egypt, Peru, Spain, and Uzbekistan, along with support from the UN Alliance of Civilizations. UN General Assembly President Philemon Yang stressed that our global diversity — with over 8 billion people, 5,000 ethnic groups, and 7,000 languages — makes dialogue essential for building trust and advancing progress.

This call aims to inspire us all to answer hate with humanity, listen with open hearts, and choose dialogue over division. Let’s unite and embrace our differences for a better, more connected world!
