Imagine a 7,500-tonne building powered by over 400 robots! In a breathtaking fusion of cutting-edge technology and cultural preservation, Shanghai's iconic Huayanli Shikumen complex has been moved back to its original site.
Located in the Zhangyuan cultural and historical district, this 4,000-square-meter architectural gem—part of the city's largest, well-preserved collection of Shikumen architecture—was temporarily relocated to protect it during a rejuvenation project of a 140-year-old district. Thanks to 432 miniature robotic walkers, the complex "walked" steadily, covering 10 meters per day. What began on May 19 culminated on June 7, marking a triumphant return to its historic home.
This innovative move not only preserves Shanghai's rich heritage but also showcases how forward-thinking technology can breathe new life into historical landmarks. A true walk through history with a modern twist! 🤖🏛
