Hey everyone, in a fresh round of dialogue under Turkish mediation in Istanbul, Ukrainian and Russian representatives met behind closed doors to discuss key humanitarian issues and possible ceasefire measures. The talks ended on a positive note, with officials emphasizing that the session "did not end negatively."
Ukrainian representatives, led by Umerov, put forward a clear agenda: a 30-day unconditional ceasefire, coupled with plans to exchange prisoners and bring back young soldiers and children. This proposal aims to ease tensions and address urgent humanitarian concerns.
On the other side, Russian figures also made significant offers. Russian Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky revealed that Moscow is set to return 6,000 bodies of fallen soldiers. Additionally, the discussions included arrangements to exchange heavily wounded soldiers and those aged 18-25, while Moscow proposed a more limited ceasefire of two to three days in certain front-line areas.
Adding a promising note to these developments, the Ukrainian defence minister mentioned that a new round of talks could be convened before the end of June. This upcoming session could further build on the progress made and potentially pave the way for more comprehensive steps toward peace. 🤝✨
