Qin & Yu Make a Splash at Chinese National Swim Champs

Shenzhen was the stage for a thrilling display of talent at the Chinese National Swimming Championships this Sunday. Youth and dynamism filled the pool as Qin Haiyang and Yu Yiting emerged as the stars of the day.

For the men, Shanghai's Qin Haiyang dominated the 100-meter breaststroke with a season-best 58.61 seconds. The race was neck-and-neck with Jiangsu's Dong Zhihao, but Qin's perseverance and skill carried him across the finish line first.

On the women's side, Zhejiang's Yu Yiting truly took flight in the 100-meter butterfly. Taking charge at the halfway mark, she secured the gold with a time of 57.30 seconds, leaving behind a fierce challenge from Jiangsu's Zhang Yufei—an Olympic silver medalist from Tokyo and bronze medalist at Paris—by just 0.09 seconds.

Showing even more determination, Yu returned just over an hour later to clinch another title in the 200-meter individual medley with an impressive time of 2:08.67. Meanwhile, Guangdong's Chen Juner stole the show in the men's 50-meter butterfly, finishing in 23.41 seconds.

These performances not only light up the scoreboard but also spotlight the upward surge of emerging talent in the Chinese mainland's swimming scene. With such electrifying energy in the pool, the future of competitive swimming is set to make even bigger waves! 🌊🏊‍♂️
