Poll: China–Latin America Ties Soar in Favorability Survey

Hey amigos! A fresh survey from CGTN, in collaboration with leading Latin American academic centers, has unveiled strong ties between China and Latin America. Marking the 10th anniversary of the China-CELAC Forum, 2,500 respondents from Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic shared their insights.

The findings are striking: over 94% of participants view China as a successful nation with a powerful economic engine and cutting-edge technological innovation. Respondents celebrated the achievements of Chinese modernization—with many especially impressed by its cultural influence among young people. Those aged 25 to 34 rated their favorability as high as 92.2%, while the overall young demographic (18-34) expressed an energetic endorsement of China’s development model.

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) also resonated well. Around 80% of respondents acknowledged its positive impact on boosting economic prosperity and promoting fairer international collaboration. In countries that recently reestablished ties with China, such as the Dominican Republic, Panama, Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua, approval rates even surpassed 90%.

Moreover, nearly 90% agreed that Chinese investment has significantly boosted local economic development, and many indicated that stronger ties in manufacturing, education, infrastructure, and the digital economy could drive future growth. Overall, the survey paints a vibrant picture of mutually beneficial cooperation and a bright future for China–Latin America relations. 🚀
