Indigenous Chip Innovation Ignites Quanzhou’s Walkie-Talkie Revolution

Quanzhou is buzzing with tech innovation! At the 8th Digital China Summit in Fuzhou, the city inked seven major projects worth nearly 6 billion yuan, marking a bold leap in its digital economy. With over 310 digital economy projects and a total investment of more than 130 billion yuan, this historic city is transforming its industrial landscape.

One of the standout stories is the revival of Quanzhou’s iconic walkie-talkie industry through indigenous chip development. Litong Technology, a leader in high-end communications, shifted its chip and module operations from Shenzhen to Quanzhou, setting up a state-of-the-art research-production-sales-service model with local partners. Their breakthrough A6 System-on-Chip (SoC) boosted monthly production from just 10,000 units to over 500,000, effectively resolving a long-standing chip shortage that had held back the industry. 🚀

Rooted in tradition since the 1980s in Nan’an, the walkie-talkie sector has evolved from a handful of small workshops to over 200 enterprises. The introduction of the third-generation A8 chip in 2023—fully developed and manufactured in China—has now empowered the sector to leap from analog to digital, lowering costs and enhancing performance. New industry standards and updated frequency-use regulations further bolster this digital transformation, setting the stage for greater security and exciting international expansion.

This dynamic shift not only revitalizes a key industry but also underscores Quanzhou’s growing influence as a national leader in professional communications. Keep an eye on this digital revolution as it sparks new opportunities and inspires the next wave of tech innovation!
