Media Groups Unite to Honor WWII Legacy & Boost Cultural Ties

In a spirited celebration blending history, culture, and media power, China Media Group and the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company joined forces to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War.

At the event, congratulatory letters from the leaders of both nations were read aloud, highlighting a mutual recognition of outstanding achievements in promoting enduring friendship. Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and CMG president, noted that these messages are the highest honor for media professionals. 🤝

Key figures emphasized building a cultural bridge through high-quality productions and broad exchanges. Oleg Dobrodeev, CEO of VGTRK, pointed out that the fruitful media cooperation strengthens the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and China, opening new avenues for content exchange, technological innovation, and personnel links.

Adding a creative spark, the event showcased insights from the co-produced movie "Red Silk," which premiered in Russia on February 20 and is set to hit theaters in the Chinese mainland this September. The launch of the 2025 China Film Festival in Russia promises to further enrich cultural ties, featuring outstanding Chinese films such as "My Country, My Parents," "Detective Chinatown 1900," and "The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru." 🎬

A peace-themed initiative also invited contributions of historical relics and memorabilia, collectively portraying a vision of hope and unity. Meanwhile, filming began for the documentary "The Great Victory – China's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression Through the Lens of a Soviet Photographer," capturing evocative moments from a pivotal era.

Over 200 participants from politics, economy, culture, media, and education joined the exchange, reinforcing a dynamic collaboration that not only honors a shared wartime legacy but also inspires a future of deeper mutual understanding and friendship. ✌️
