In an escalating move in the northern Red Sea, the Houthi group claimed a bold strike against the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman. According to Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea, the attack – carried out with ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones – marks the second such action in less than 24 hours. Sarea stated, "In response to the continued American aggression against our country …" and added that his forces also thwarted a hostile enemy attack with coordinated rocket and drone strikes.
The unfolding conflict comes as U.S. airstrikes targeted several key Houthi positions in Yemen. Reports indicate that airstrikes hit a cotton ginning factory in the Zabid District and a governorate building in Al-Jawf, with no immediate casualties confirmed. However, the Houthi-run health ministry in Sanaa reported that the death toll from these strikes has climbed to 53, including five children and two women, with 98 others injured. Rescue operations are underway to reach those trapped under the rubble.
Amid rising tensions, Sarea warned that if U.S. airstrikes persist, his forces could extend their attacks to include all U.S. naval and commercial vessels in the region. Meanwhile, the U.S. Central Command confirmed that operations against Houthi targets continue, following a vow by President Donald Trump to sustain air operations until attacks against international shipping lanes end.
