France Recruits Retired Doctors to Address Healthcare Shortage 🏥

In the charming southern French town of Albi, retired doctor Yves Carcaillet is making a comeback. 🇫🇷☕

Amid France's pressing medical crisis and a growing shortage of physicians, Carcaillet decided to take action just a year after hanging up his stethoscope. 💉

Approached by the mayor of Albi, he spearheaded the creation of a temporary clinic staffed entirely by retired physicians – a pioneering move in France.

\"I'm not sure that it will be a cure-all solution, but there is a workforce,\" says Carcaillet. \"Wherever you find retired doctors and if you ask them if they still want to work – they will say 'Yes'.\"

\"All across France, retired doctors are happy to help out. They're experienced, they're qualified – and we're not there to get rich, so it's a cheap workforce as well.\"

Now, Carcaillet leads his afternoon shift at the new medical center, bringing decades of family practice experience back to the community.
