9 Lives Lost in Powerful 6.8 Magnitude Quake in Xizang Region ⛰️

At 9:05 a.m. on Tuesday, a mighty 6.8 magnitude earthquake shook Dingri County in the city of Xigaze, located in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region. Reports from China Media Group confirm that nine people tragically lost their lives.

In Tonglai Village, Changsuo Town of Dingri, homes were reduced to rubble, leaving locals in shock and distress. Xigaze, also known as Shigatse, felt the full force of the quake's power.

According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, the epicenter was pinpointed at 28.5 degrees north latitude and 87.45 degrees east longitude, with the quake striking at a depth of 10 kilometers beneath the Earth's surface.

But the shaking didn't stop there! Strong tremors were also felt across the border in Nepal's Kathmandu Valley, reminding everyone of nature's unpredictable might.

By 10 a.m., the region had experienced multiple aftershocks, the strongest registering at a magnitude of 4.4. Residents are urged to stay alert and safe as authorities continue to assess the situation.
